DETZIM 26A reception, conversation, and exhibition of ten artists from Detroit (USA) with ten from Zimbabwe.DETZIM 26 is the fourth group research/workshop residency initiated through ZCCD (Zimbabwe Cultural Center Detroit) with the first in 2016 between CUT (Chinhoyi Univeristy of Zimbabwe) and CCS (College for Creative Studies, Detroit). The premise of DETZIM is creating spaces for cultural and artistic exchanges initiated through material, process, and practice. Inspired by the early 1990s Utonga workshops run by Tapfuma Gutsa in Shurugwi, DETZIM explores material as a conduit for dialogue.
This year residency began with visiting some of Harare’s cultural landmarks and artist run spaces.
