Fatima Sow is a Visual Artist and Art Educator from Detroit, MI. Over the past eight years Fatima has taught K-12 Art Education and continued her studio practice in Detroit, MI after receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the College for Creative Studies. She's exhibited at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, the Carr Center, KO Studio Gallery and other spaces around the city. Fatima's body of work spans from photo collage, mosaics, to sculpture, that reflect her relationships to natural elements in her hometown and abroad. While capturing vibrant palettes, utilizing textures, geometric and organic forms to create figures and amalgamated landscapes.
She participates in the postcard project wish you were here which has been exhibited at Public Pool (Hamtramck), Delta Gallery (Harare), Elaine L. Jacob Gallery (W.S.U. Detroit), National Gallery of Zimbabwe (Mutare), DAASGallery (U.M. Ann Arbor).
