Mbira Class

IWould you like to learn how to play a mbira? The mbira is a indigenous/ceremonial instrument from Zimbabwe which dates back thousands of years. It is spiritually used to call the ancestors.

There will be three virtual classes accompanied with supporting video instructions run by lecturer, musician, storyteller, community builder, Dr. Moyo Rainos Mutamba (pictured in the poster above). Then one in person with Piwai WekuHarare (pictured below), a mbira player presently based in California.

The classes are $20/each (totaling at $80) payed directly to the instructor rainosm@gmail.com.

To participate you need a mbira tuned to G. If you do not have one you are welcome to rent one from the Sadza Space $5/week (four weeks being $20). We will ask you sign an agreement to charge a credit card for the full cost of the mbira if it gets damaged or lost during the rental period. To rent the mbira, first register with Dr. Mutamba then email us at info@sadzaspace.org

We look forward to you joining us!
