Julie George currently lives and works in Detroit, MI. George's work focuses on the idea of paradise as a construct that is both deeply personal and universally understood. Through collage and painting, her work shows scenes of altered idealistic locations that evoke a sense of absence. She participates in the postcard project wish you were here which has been exhibited at Public Pool (Hamtramck), Delta Gallery (Harare), Elaine L. Jacob Gallery (W.S.U. Detroit), National Gallery of Zimbabwe (Mutare), DAASGallery (U.M. Ann Arbor).
